Welcome to River of Life Schools River of Life Schools help to provide an education for children who are orphans, refugees or from extremely poor backgrounds. We have several Schools and Orphanages in India, Kenya and Uganda which need constant support to help feed and clothe the children as well as pay the teachers, utility bills, rent and upkeep of the buildings. We are also in the process of building Orphanages and Schools. We are currently raising funds to build a school, for 156 children, just outside of Nairobi at Kitengela. For this project we need to raise $35,000. At present these children are in a rented building next to a rubbish tip. There isn't any running water, no electricity and they share two toilets with four families living on the ground floor. In 2010 we lost 17 children during the Civil Riots when their previous school was burnt down - including all of the children's books and clothes. At Kitengela they will have space to play, fresh air to breath and all the facilities that they need to provide them with an education and a hope for the future. So, if you would like to help build this School and have your name or the name of a loved one engraved on the school wall (for donations of $100 or more), then please contact us at riveroflifeuk@hotmail.com If you would like to regularly sponsor a child then please request a sponsorship form which we can download to you at your e-mail address. Also see our video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWaNJVPMaG4&feature=youtu.be Through River of Life Schools you have the unique opportunity to change the lives of many children - not just now but well into the future. In fact whole communities are changed when a River of Life School is built providing extra local employment. On behalf of all the children a big... THANK YOU! for any support you can give
Dr Alison Brown, together with her son, Paul, helped to found River of Life international in 1995. They have undertaken many fund raising events from sponsored swims, coffee mornings, auctions and bring & buy sales. At the age of just 14 Paul became the youngest lone cyclist to ride 900+ miles from John O'Groats to Land's End raising £2000 for the charity. In 2012 Alison swam a mile in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and raised £2,500 for the children. BOOKS Alison, who has been awarded an honorary doctorate for her work in education, continues to raise funds via royalty payments from her books including: 'Diary of a Missionary'; 'Images of God'; 'Grow Up!'; 'The End...Prophetic Insights into the Last Days' and 'Think Thin Be Thin'. See http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/riveroflifeuk Paul continues to do the same with sales from his music tracks on itunes such as 'Welcome to the Working Week' (see his video on You Tube) and through his recently formed Media Company called PLMedia at https://twitter.com/PLMediaLondon We also have the support of many sponsors and donors who have helped us throughout the years in raising funds for the children. They have become like a second family to us. We hope that you may also join with us in giving children an education - children that, without our support, would never receive one. |
